OBITUARY

May 31, 1920 – September 14, 2013

Kathryn H. Craig, 93, of Canonsburg, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness.

She was born May 31, 1920, in Centerville, a daughter of the late William Winfield and Emma Bane Hendershot.

Mrs. Craig lived most of her life in the Canonsburg and Houston areas and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Houston for more than 50 years.

She had been employed at Drakenfeld Corp. during World War II and prior to her retirement was a secretary at South Hills Eye Associates.

On November 7, 1941, she married John Craig, who passed away May 8, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Kristy (Joe) Smydo of Scenery Hill and Terry Craig of Canonsburg; a brother, Harold (Ethel) Hendershot of Scenery Hill; seven grandchildren, Joe (Judy) Smydo, Matt (Marissa) Smydo, Jason Smydo, David (Jocelin) Smydo, Rachel (Chad) McWreath, Joshua (Briana) Smydo and Sarah (Nathan) Cale; four great-grandchildren, Nick, Alyssa, Taylor and Anna Smydo; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are two brothers, Billy and Melvin Hendershot; and two sisters, Ruth Emler and Virginia Burnfield.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, with the Rev. Clara Jean Haury officiating. Private interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Craig’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to a 5-year-old kidney cancer patient, Addalynne Morrison, 111 Hedge Road, Jefferson, PA 15344.
